When travelling in Iceland, you will, no doubt, come across snow-covered volcanoes, erupting geysers, and countless waterfalls. A Holiday Package in Iceland will not only guide you towards natural attractions like these but take care of all the boring details, such as booking accommodations and transportation, as well.
Those looking to travel during Iceland’s Northern Lights season can check out our Winter Holiday Packages. If, however, you wish to explore in the long hours under the Midnight Sun, then a Summer Holiday Package is the right option for you.
We offer both summer and winter Self-Drive Tours, perfect for those who want to grab the wheel themselves and set their own pace on their holiday. However, those looking to relax and let somebody else do the driving, then a guided tour is the best option.
Guided tours come in two forms, Small-Group Guided, where you’ll travel around the country with no more than 17 other people, and Privately Guided where you’ll travel only with the ones with whom you booked the tour. We also offer Off The Beaten Path Tours. The emphasis on those excursions is to visit places usually left untouched by mass tourism. They usually also include exciting activities such as diving or hiking.
What's Included in Your Iceland Holiday Package
Included in your Holiday Package at Traveo are all accommodation during your trip. The first and last nights in Iceland are usually spent in Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík. You’ll stay at a hotel or guesthouse in or near the downtown area, meaning that you can explore the city’s main attractions shortly after you land in Iceland.
When not in the city, you’ll spend your nights in comfortable country hotels and guesthouses. All accommodations offered on Traveo have a private bathroom unless otherwise is stated, and breakfast is always included.
Transportation also comes included with a Holiday Package. When booking a Self-Drive Tour, you’ll receive your vehicle at Keflavík International Airport so that you can start your adventure right away.
On Guided Packages, you’ll journey between the airport and Reykjavík via bus or a private transfer, depending on the type of tour you’ve booked. The day after you land, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation and take you on an adventure around Iceland.
While booking an Iceland Holiday Package, you can customise your vacation by adding additional activities and tours such as snorkelling, snowmobiling or visiting an ice cave. Sometimes, these activities are included in the package itself. If that is the case, it will be clearly stated in the individual tour description and its “included” section.
After booking, you will receive a personalised itinerary with detailed information on the places you will see and the activities you will do while on your travels around Iceland.
Frequently asked questions
The Icelandic weather is notoriously fickle; we recommend you bring layers of warm and wind-resistant clothes. Waterproof clothes is also a good idea in case it rains, or if you want to walk behind Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. Good shoes are a must. Preferably ones that cover your ankle to give you support as the terrain is not always flat and dry.
We recommend you bring a hat covering your ears, scarf and gloves (thick gloves in the winter, thinner in summer). You might not need them all the time in the summer, but you’ll be happy to have them if you do.
Don’t forget to bring sunglasses as the sun might be very low for a long time in the winter and very bright in the summer, especially if you choose to do a glacier hike. Sunscreen in the summer is advised as here in the polar regions, with a thinner atmosphere, the sun can burn very quickly, and burns often go unnoticed until it’s too late.
Other than that, make sure to bring your camera as you will want to capture those amazing landscapes and share it with your friends and family when you return (or on the spot as 4G is available almost everywhere).

However, most of them will make stops at Iceland’s must-see places such as the Golden Circle and those on the South Coast. If, however, you can’t find what you are looking for or you want to go to a specific place, we also offer the possibility to create your own holiday. This is our speciality and would gladly tailor-make the perfect trip for you.
Yes! Of course, children can join our holiday packages. If there are any age restrictions, they will be clearly marked in the package description. Some additional activities might not be suited for young children; however, you can also find information on age restrictions on activities in the “Optional Activities” section of each package.
When coming with children, we do recommend to do a self-drive tour as this will give you more freedom on your schedule and what you will see every day. Just make sure to let us know when booking how old your children are so we can have a car seat or booster ready in the rental car.
Yes, you will, especially on Self-Drive Tours where you have the complete freedom to see anything you want. On our Small-Group Guided Tours, you will spend most of the day sightseeing and be guided to the best spots. If you wish to combine freedom with professional guidance, then we recommend our Privately Guided Tours.
If a tour that was included in your package gets cancelled due to weather conditions, you’ll have two choices. You can either postpone it, and we will help you arrange your itinerary to fit your new schedule, or get a refund for that tour. If overnight stays were part of your cancelled tour, we would help you find suitable accommodations for those nights, and adjust the refund accordingly. On rare occasions, you might have to make up the difference if your new accommodations are pricier.
