Itinerary

Your friendly, local guide will pick you up in a comfortable minibus in the morning. Inside, you will find free WiFi and lovely Icelandic music. Throughout the journey, your guide will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have, be they about the music, the places you are about to visit or anything else you may think of.

You’ll start by visiting two beautiful waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. The former falls over a cliff with a cave in it. Follow a path that leads you inside the cave, behind the falling springwater. You might get a little wet in the process, so you might want to put on a raincoat first.

The latter waterfall, Skógafoss, is vastly different from Seljalandsfoss; it is much wider and more powerful. It falls onto a plain of black sand that is very flat, allowing you to walk right up to the wall of water, but you might get hit with a few droplets of water, so make sure you keep your raincoat on hand.

You’ll continue your journey to Skaftafell Nature Reserve, a luscious area where green flora meets black sand and white glaciers. Here, you’ll embark on a glacier hike for a better view of this spectacular scenery. Your guide will provide you with all the information and glacier gear needed for your excursion.

You’ll then head to your accommodation in the area where you’ll spend the night.

Begin your second day in South Iceland with a good, complimentary breakfast before hopping aboard the minibus for today’s adventures.

You’ll begin at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where massive icebergs float on aquamarine water. Amidst these giant bergs are seals that can sometimes be seen as they pop their head out of the water. If you want a better look at the icebergs, you can opt for a boat ride on the lagoon. You are sure to capture some amazing photos when you are on the water.

A stone’s throw away from Jökulsárlón is The Diamond Beach. Here, smaller ice chunks from the lagoon have washed upon the jet-black shore. In the summer sunlight, they glisten and glitter like diamonds, hence the name of this beach.

Your last stop before heading back to Reykjavík is at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. Here you’ll see roaring waves crash upon shore and grey cliffs made of hexagonal columns. Keep an eye out for the birds nesting in the cliffs; often, you can spot razorbills and even puffins.
