Whale & Puffin RIB Boat Tour in Husavik

2-2,5 Hours

April - October

Minimum Age

8 yo or Min. Height 130 cm

Embark on a unique adventure where you’ll search for minke whales, humpbacks, dolphins, and puffins on a rigid inflatable boat (RIB). The waters off the coast of Húsavík Town are known for their abundance of whales and other wildlife, making this excursion perfect for any nature-lover visiting North Iceland.

The tour starts at Húsavík Harbour, where you’ll meet your professional guide. You will be given safety overalls that will keep you warm against the cold Arctic winds. Make sure you’ll also wear warm clothes; you will be out in the North Atlantic Ocean after all.

You will then board the boat and head out onto the waters of Skjálfandi Bay. The boat is a small and speedy vessel that will be able to smoothly zip out of the harbour. You’ll spend around 2 hours looking for the whales found in the waters just outside of Húsavík.

The RIB boat will allow you to go further away from the harbour, where you’ll find bigger whales, the real giants of the ocean. Skjálfandi Bay is known for the wealth of wildlife found there. Subsequently, Húsavík has been nicknamed the ‘Whale Watching Capital of Europe’. In recent years, sightings of whales have occurred in over 99% of tours.

If you are travelling between April and August, you will undoubtedly spot a few puffins too. These adorable little creatures spend their summers in Iceland, nesting in cliffs around Húsavík Harbour and heading to the ocean for food.

Explore Skjálfandi Bay on a speedy RIB boat and see the majestic whales in their natural habitat with this fantastic Whale & Puffin Watching Tour. Book now to secure your spot on this exciting trip.
