Overview

On this tour, you´ll have the opportunity to experience stunning scenery, such as waterfalls and black sand beaches, and have a thrilling adventure on a glacier hike. A small group tour provides you with a more personal and in-depth experience compared with standard coach tours. Discover the beauty of South Iceland on this excellent full-day guided tour.

You´ll be picked up in or near your accommodation in the morning by your friendly, local guide. As you travel from site to site, your guide will be ready with interesting information about the landmarks you are about to visit. In addition, since this is a small-group tour, the guide will have ample time to hear and answer any questions you may have.

You´ll travel in a comfortable minibus with free Wi-Fi, which will allow you to upload any photos you´ll take today straight to your social media account. And you are sure to take some great pictures of your first destination, Skógafoss Waterfall.

This mighty cascade falls on a flat, black sand plane. The water flows away from the waterfall in a shallow river, so walking right up to the falling spring water for some unique selfies is possible.

From there, you´ll travel to Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier or the larger Mýrdalsjökull Ice Cap. Here, you´ll strap on crampons and a harness before following your guide up the glacier. You´ll notice first how the glacier is covered in black ash. This is the result of the 2010 eruption of the nearby Eyjafjallajökull Volcano. However, the higher up you go, the whiter and bluer the ice gets.

Notice how quiet it is up on the glacier; you are far away from traffic noises that we are all so accustomed to. You´ll explore glacier moulins, deep crevasses, and strangely shaped natural ice sculptures on top of this peaceful glacier before heading back down.

Once on the ground, you´ll board the minibus again, this time heading to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. There, you´ll see the powerful waves of the North Atlantic Ocean crash upon the jet-black shoreline and Reynisfjara´s tall cliffs, made of grey, geometric columns.

Your last stop before returning to Reykjavík is Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. It is a unique cascade that falls over a cliff with a cave. You can enter the cave to see the waterfall from behind the falling spring water in the summertime. In the wintertime, the cascade is lit up by powerful spotlights, providing it with a fairytale look.

Experience the unique beauty of South Iceland with this sightseeing and glacier hiking tour. Book now to secure your spot on this amazing adventure.
