Overview

Go off the beaten track and experience Iceland’s otherworldly nature on a tour to the Landmannalaugar region in the Highlands. On this tour, you’ll travel in luxury on a Super Jeep with only 5 other people. You’ll go into the wild Icelandic nature, where you’ll see volcanoes, hike up colourful mountains, and take a dip in a natural hot spring.

This tour starts in the morning when a professional, local guide picks you up in a Super Jeep, a large 4WD, an all-terrain vehicle built to handle the Highland’s rough terrain. The tour is semi-private, meaning there will only be a maximum of six people on it, including you.

You’ll begin by leaving the city and heading into the South Iceland countryside. At one point, the driver will head inland, towards the wilderness area of the Highlands. Your first stop will be at the foot of Mt. Hekla, in a verdant oasis surrounded by black sand deserts. Here you’ll stop to fill your water bottle with fresh, clean water from the river Rangá.

Next is a stop in the middle of the black sand desert of the Highlands at Valafell Hill. The views here are nothing but spectacular, reminiscent of something on the moon and not planet Earth.

From there, you’ll travel to the Landmannalaugar, a region known for its beautiful mountains and hot springs. You’ll spend about two hours hiking on the colourful slopes of Brennisteinsalda, seeing how the peaks seem to change colours as you journey across them. After a good hike, you’ll take a dip in a natural, geothermal hot spring to relax any aching muscles you might have.
Before returning to Reykjavík, you’ll make one last stop at Hnausapollur, a red crater filled with bright blue water. Your guide will tell you about the formation of this ethereal lake and show you the best place to snap a photo of it.

Discover the beauty of the Icelandic Highlands on this fantastic semi-private tour. Book now to secure your spot on this amazing adventure.
