Frequently asked questions
Off-the-Beaten-Path Packages are a collection of one-of-a-kind tours, hand-picked by our professional travel experts. These excursions are usually privately guided and will show you parts of Iceland that few visitors will ever get to see. Many of these packages have limited availability as some include small group tours or are only available once a year.
Each of our Off-the-Beaten-Path packages is different and all provide unique adventures in Iceland. You’ll find packages that allow you to herd sheep and horses like an Icelandic cowboy, experience hidden dive sites around the country, and be transported via helicopter up a mountain so you can ski down to your cabin at the bottom. There are also calmer activities available, such as fishing at some of Iceland’s best rivers followed by a glacier hike, and enjoying the luxury of a serviced private cabin. We are continually looking for new adventures to include in this category, so our selection is always expanding.
Yes, they can. However, there might be a minimum age on some of the Off-the-Beaten-Path packages. You can see the minimum age for each tour under the tour photo.
The beaten path are tours and packages that go to some of the most popular places in Iceland, such as the Golden Circle, the waterfalls in South Iceland, Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Lake Mývatn, and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. These are all spectacular sites and should not be missed. A few of our Off-the-Beaten-Path packages will visit some of these places as well, so you can get to see the country’s favoured sites as well as some hidden gems.
In the description of each tour is a list of things to bring. These generally include warm and waterproof clothes and good, outdoor shoes. Make sure to read the list carefully as some tours require special equipment.
For some, yes, for others, no. Our packages are very different and have different difficulty levels. Some might only be suitable for those in good physical condition, while others are suitable for all. We make it clear in the tour description if you need to be physically fit to participate on a tour.
If you want to experience something truly exceptional, challenge yourself, avoid the crowds and go for lesser-known and less touristy attractions, then these are made for you!
