Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Iceland!
On the first day of your tour in Iceland, you’ll land at Keflavík International Airport and pick up your rental car. From there, you’ll head to the city to check in to your accommodation.
If you’re feeling up to it, take some time to explore Reykjavík and see what the city has to offer. With its colourful buildings and stunning architecture, Reykjavík is a unique and charming destination that’s worth exploring. Take a stroll through the city’s streets, visit local shops and cafes, or simply relax and soak up the atmosphere of this vibrant Icelandic city. Whatever you choose to do, you’re sure to have a memorable first day in Iceland.

Day 2: Discover the Golden Circle
On day 2 of this tour, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Iceland’s famous Golden Circle. This route takes you to three of the country’s most stunning natural wonders: Þingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall.
At Þingvellir National Park, you can wander through the rift valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and even stand in the spot where Iceland’s parliament was founded over 1,000 years ago.
Next, you’ll visit the Geysir Geothermal Area, home to the famous Strokkur geyser, which erupts every few minutes, shooting water up to 30 metres in the air. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the other geothermal features in the area, including bubbling mud pots and fumaroles. Finally, you’ll visit Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls, where you’ll be able to admire the power of the Hvítá River as it cascades down two tiers into a deep canyon.
After a full day of exploring, you’ll retire to your accommodation in the southwestern countryside. Here, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of rural Iceland, surrounded by stunning landscapes and fresh air. Day 3: The Untamed Beauty of the South Coast
Your journey on this day will take you along the stunning south coast of Iceland, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of some of the country’s most impressive natural wonders.
You’ll start your day with a visit to Seljalandsfoss, a stunning waterfall that plunges over 60 metres into a shimmering pool below. Here, you’ll have the chance to walk behind the waterfall and take in the views from a unique perspective. Next, you’ll visit Skógafoss, another impressive waterfall with a 60-metre drop and a staircase that leads to a viewing platform at the top.
After taking in the natural beauty of the waterfalls, you’ll head to the Dyrhólaey Peninsula, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the coastline and maybe spot a puffin or two. The final destination of the day will be Reynisfjara black sand beach, known for its dramatic basalt columns and towering sea stacks.
As the day comes to a close, you’ll make your way to the charming village of Vík, where you’ll spend the night in comfortable accommodation and have the opportunity to explore the local area at your leisure. Day 4: The Realm of Ice and Fire at Vatnajökull National Park
On this day, you’ll embark on an exciting journey to Vatnajökull National Park, one of Iceland’s most stunning natural wonders.
Your first stop will be at Skaftafell Nature Reserve, where you can stretch your legs and go for a hike amidst breathtaking scenery. The reserve is home to various hiking trails that cater to all skill levels, so you can choose a route that suits you best.
After your hike, you’ll continue to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, two of the most iconic destinations in Iceland. At the glacier lagoon, you’ll witness the awe-inspiring sight of massive icebergs floating in crystal-clear water, while at Diamond Beach, you’ll marvel at the sparkling ice diamonds that adorn the black sand beach.

Minimum age is 10 and children must also be taller than 130 cm (4’3”).

Day 5: Immerse Yourself in the Charms of East Iceland
During this day of your tour, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the picturesque fishing villages that dot the coastline of East Iceland. These charming communities are steeped in history and offer a glimpse into the traditional way of life in this remote part of the country. Take your time to wander around the colourful houses and admire the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and sea.
After a morning of village-hopping, you’ll head inland to Hallormsstaðaskógur Forest, one of the largest forests in Iceland. Here, you can stretch your legs with a hike through the beautiful woodland, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Keep an eye out for the many bird species that call this forest home.
As the day draws to a close, you’ll head to Egilsstaðir Town, located on the banks of Lake Lagarfljót. The lake is said to be the home of a mythical creature known as Lagarfljótsormurinn, a serpent-like monster that has been spotted in the lake for centuries.
You’ll spend the night at accommodation in or near Egilsstaðir, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s adventures.

- Vök Nature Baths: Vök Nature Baths are surrounded by nothing but the untouched nature of East Iceland. Ticket includes entry to the baths and a tisane brewed from the spring water and local herbs at the infusion bar. Bring with you a swimsuit and a towel but those can also be rented onsite. Day 6: Geothermal Marvels in the Lake Mývatn Area
Today’s tour will take you to the stunning Lake Mývatn Area, where you can immerse yourself in Iceland’s natural beauty.
First, you will visit the Námaskarð Pass, known for its bubbling mud pools and geothermal activity. This area is a photographer’s dream, with its otherworldly landscape and unique geological features.
Next, you’ll visit Dimmuborgir, a lava field with unique rock formations and caves. Legend has it that this area was once home to trolls, and you’ll see why when you explore the eerie landscape. Take your time to wander through the maze of lava pillars and arches. Don’t forget to look up at the towering formations surrounding you.
Finally, you’ll visit Lake Mývatn, one of Iceland’s most beautiful spots. The lake is surrounded by lush vegetation and is home to a variety of bird species. Day 7: Encounter Dettifoss, Ásbyrgi, and Húsavík
Begin your day with a visit to Dettifoss Waterfall, one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. As you stand in awe of the rushing water, take in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
From there, head to Ásbyrgi Canyon, a horseshoe-shaped canyon that is said to have been formed by the hoofprint of Odin’s eight-legged horse. Stroll around the canyon and marvel at the towering cliffs surrounding you.
After exploring Ásbyrgi, make your way to Húsavík, a charming coastal town that is known for its whale-watching tours and picturesque harbour. Take some time to explore the lovely village and maybe indulge in some local seafood.

Day 8: Unravel the Wonders of the Troll Peninsula
On this day of your tour itinerary, you’ll have the opportunity to discover more of North Iceland’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
First on the agenda is a visit to Goðafoss Waterfall, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland, known for its horseshoe shape and powerful flow. From there, you’ll make your way to the charming town of Akureyri, where you can explore its unique shops and cafes or simply take in the picturesque scenery.
After leaving Akureyri, you’ll drive along the scenic Troll Peninsula, a rugged and mountainous region with dramatic and breathtaking scenery. You’ll stop at Siglufjörður, a picturesque fishing village nestled in a narrow fjord, and Hofsós, a small village with a beautiful harbour and an Instagram-worthy swimming pool.
Finally, you’ll arrive at your accommodation in northwest Iceland, where you can relax and unwind after a day of adventure and exploration.

Day 9: Embrace the Mystique of Strandir Region in the Westfjords

As you make your way towards your destination, you will have the opportunity to stop at Hvítserkur rock stack, a unique natural formation that rises from the sea. This is an excellent spot for taking photos and enjoying the stunning coastal scenery.
As you continue your journey, you will enter the Strandir region, known for its rich folklore and mystical landscapes. Here, you can immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions and learn about the legends and stories that have been passed down through generations.
After a day of exploring, you will head to the tiny town of Drangsnes, where you can unwind in the town’s hot pools that are located on the shore. This is the perfect way to relax and rejuvenate after a long day of travel.

Day 10: Ísafjördur Beckons
On this exciting day of your tour, you will be leaving the charming village of Hólmavík and making your way to the picturesque town of Ísafjörður. You’ll be travelling through Iceland’s stunning Westfjords region, known for its rugged landscapes, dramatic fjords, and pristine natural beauty. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, rolling hills, and sparkling ocean.
As you approach Ísafjörður, you’ll be greeted by the sight of a charming little town nestled amidst the mountains and surrounded by the sea. Ísafjörður is known for its rich history and culture, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore its many attractions. You can visit the Westfjords Heritage Museum to learn about the town’s history or take a stroll through the old town to admire the colourful houses and narrow streets.
Soak up Ísafjörður’s unique atmosphere before settling in for a restful night’s sleep. With so much to see and do in Ísafjörður, this promises to be a day that you’ll never forget.

Day 11: Encounter Waterfalls and Puffins
On this day of the tour, you will embark on a journey to some of the Westfjords most impressive sites.
Begin your day by visiting the magnificent Dynjandi Waterfall, also known as the Jewel of the Westfjords. This stunning waterfall is made up of multiple cascading falls that create a mesmerising display of natural beauty. Take your time to soak in the sights and sounds of the waterfall, as well as capture some amazing photos to remember the experience.
Next, you’ll head over to the breathtaking Rauðisandur Beach, known for its unique reddish-golden sand. Take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and sea. You may even spot some seals or birds along the way!
In the afternoon, you’ll make your way to the Látrabjarg Cliffs, which are the westernmost point of Europe and home to thousands of nesting birds. You’ll have the opportunity to see puffins up close and personal, as well as other bird species like guillemots and razorbills. The cliffs themselves are also an impressive sight, towering over the sea below.
Finally, you’ll end your day in the charming town of Patreksfjörður, where you’ll spend the night. Take some time to explore the town, grab a bite to eat, and relax after a day of adventure and natural beauty.

Day 12: Heading to Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Land of Legends
On this day, you will venture towards the stunning Snæfellsnes Peninsula. You have the option to either take a ferry across the Breiðafjörður Bay or embark on a scenic drive.
If you opt for the ferry, you will arrive at your destination quicker and can explore Snæfellsnes a little. However, if you choose the scenic drive, you will be able to make several stops, including Eiríksstaðir and Guðrúnarlaug pool, and take in the breathtaking views along the way.
Eiríksstaðir is a historical site once home to Erik the Red, a famous Viking explorer. You can explore the reconstructed turf house and learn about the Viking history of the area. Guðrúnarlaug pool is a natural hot spring that has been used for centuries, and you can relax in the warm water and take in the beautiful surroundings.
Whichever option you choose, you will arrive at Snæfellsnes and be surrounded by stunning landscapes, including the famous Snæfellsjökull glacier, made famous by Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the peninsula, taking in the sights, and enjoying the area’s unique culture.

Day 13: Delve into Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Today’s itinerary takes you to the stunning Snæfellsnes Peninsula, where you’ll experience some of Iceland’s most picturesque landscapes. Towering over your journey today is the mighty Snæfellsjökull Glacier, believed by many to be a mystical energy source. See if you can feel it.
Your first stop is Mt. Kirkjufell, a picturesque mountain considered one of Iceland’s most photographed landmarks. Take in the breathtaking views of the mountain and the surrounding landscape before heading to your next destination, Djúpalónssandur Beach. This black sand beach is known for its unique rock formations and eerie atmosphere.
Next, you’ll visit the Lóndrangar, two towering rock formations that rise out of the ocean and provide a stunning photo backdrop. As you explore the area, you’ll also have the opportunity to see a variety of bird species that call the cliffs home.
After a full day of exploring, you’ll return to your accommodation on Snæfellsnes for another night of rest and relaxation. Take some time to unwind and reflect on the incredible sights and experiences you’ve had so far on your journey through Iceland’s natural wonders.

Day 14: Unveiling the Raw Beauty of West Iceland

Your journey will take you through scenic countryside roads and past stunning landscapes as you make your way to Reykjavík. Along the way, stop at Grábrók Crater, where you can take a short hike to the top and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Next, visit the stunning Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, which are located just a short walk away from each other. Hraunfossar is a series of waterfalls that flow out of a lava field, while Barnafoss is a narrow, turbulent waterfall said to have been named after two children who fell into the river. Both waterfalls are truly awe-inspiring and are sure to leave you with lasting memories.
Finally, you’ll visit Deildartunguhver Hot Spring, the largest hot spring in Europe. It produces a staggering 180 litres of boiling water per second! Here, you can walk around the area and learn about the unique geothermal activity that makes Iceland such a fascinating destination.

Day 15: Farewell to the Land of Fire and Ice
On your final day in Iceland, it’s time to say goodbye to this breathtaking country. You’ll need to pack your bags and make sure you allow enough time to drive to the airport and return your rental car.
If your flight doesn’t leave until later in the day, consider spending some time in Reykjavík before you depart. This charming city has plenty to offer, from its colourful buildings and quaint streets to its vibrant arts and culture scene. Take a stroll through the city centre, visit one of its many museums or galleries, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee at a cosy café. Whatever you choose to do, make the most of your last few hours in Iceland before you head home.

- Fly over Iceland: Soar over the entire island, seeing Iceland’s most spectacular sceneries with the latest in simulated flight ride technology. FlyOver Iceland will allow you to virtually soar over Iceland’s most iconic landscapes, while special effects — including wind, mist, scent and motion — help create the illusion of flight. Children need to be at least 102 cm (3’4″) to participate.
Accommodation
You’ll have a choice of three accommodations levels. See details about each one in the boxes below. All accommodations for this tour have been hand-picked by our local travel experts.
For budget-level, single rooms will be allocated to bookings for one person. Shared twin/double or triple room(s) will be arranged for two or more people. Groups with an odd number of participants will be allotted a single room in quality-level. Children and teenagers will be arranged in the same room as their parents. Additional cost may occur if additional room(s) is needed.
Please keep in mind that hotel quality in Iceland varies between regions and that not all locations offer quality-level accommodations. At those particular locations, comfort level accommodations will be arranged, which has already been calculated in the upgraded price. We do our best to accommodate special requests, but additional costs may incur.
Budget
Nice and comfortable rooms with shared bathroom facilities and shower located in farmhouses, guesthouses or hostels, in good locations with breakfast included. An example of this in Reykjavík would be Kex Hostel.
Comfort
Comfortable rooms in three-star hotels or quality guesthouses, centrally located, very close to popular attractions. Private bathroom and breakfast included. An example of this in Reykjavík would be Fosshotel Rauðará.
Quality
Rooms in four-star hotels or superior rooms in quality three-star hotels at fantastic locations near popular attractions. Private bathroom and breakfast is included. An example of this in Reykjavík would be Icelandair Hotel Marina.
Car
You’ll have a choice of three options for your rental car. See details for each option in the boxes below. We only work with highly reputable dealerships, ensuring you a smooth ride throughout your holiday.
The vehicles for all levels are current models, no older than two years. They all come standard with a medium protection package including CDW (Collision damage waiver), GP (Gravel Protection), Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW), Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) and a Theft Waiver (THW). They also come equipped with free Wi-Fi with 3GB total. You will also get 24-hour roadside emergency services from the car rental agency. In the wintertime, all cars have winter tyres.
The driver must hold a valid driving licence which they have had for at least 12 months before the date of the rental. Age requirement varies for each level, and you can find more information on that in the boxes below.
Please note that off-road driving is illegal in Iceland.

Budget 2WD
2WD vehicle such as a VW Golf, good for city driving and shorter trips. Fits up to 5 travellers & light luggage. No Highland capabilities. Driver must be at least 20 year old.

Comfort 4x4
4x4 jeep or SUV. Fits up to 5 travellers and 2 large pieces of luggage. Decent for snow and off-asphalt driving. Basic highland capabilities. Driver must be min. 20 years old.

Luxury 4x4
Large 4x4 like a Toyota Land Cruiser. Comfortable up to 5 travellers with 4 large pieces of luggage. Full highland capabilities. Driver must be min. 21 years old.

- Note that the itinerary may have to be rearranged to fit your arrival date and time better.
- The itinerary is dependent upon road and weather conditions and so it may be altered if conditions are not favourable. This includes optional activities as well. If extreme weather affects your travel plans, you will be notified and we will do our best to assist you with rearranging or booking other activities when applicable.
- Some optional activities may need a valid driving licence, or you may need to send additional information to your travel agent. For snorkelling, you will need to know how to swim and fill out an online medical document.
- The weather in Iceland is very unpredictable, even in the summertime. Make sure to be prepared and bring both warm and waterproof clothing.
