Get the ultimate Icelandic experience on this exciting day tour. Travel around the famous Golden Circle area in a small group and see powerful waterfalls, Viking battlegrounds, and erupting geysers. You will also get to unwind in geothermal waters, have lunch among growing tomato plants at Friðheimar Greenhouse, and meet the friendly Icelandic horse. Those looking for the perfect introduction to Icelandic nature and culture should book this tour now.

You will be picked up in the morning and whisked away to the village of Flúðir. Despite being located in the middle of the Golden Circle route, this little settlement of just over 800 people is often overlooked by travellers. However, this tiny town has plenty to offer, and it is here where you’ll make the first stop; at the Secret Lagoon. You’ll arrive at the lagoon’s quietist hour, allowing you to enjoy the peace and quiet of this hidden gem fully.

The Secret Lagoon is Iceland’s oldest swimming pool, dating back to the 19th Century. The walls of the pool were built around a small erupting geyser, and the water comes straight from a hot spring, just like it did over a hundred years ago. Unwind in the warm, geothermal water and enjoy the fairytale-like view of billowing clouds of white steam and moss-covered lava rocks.

Your next stop is sure to satisfy the hunger you must have worked up at the lagoon. Friðheimar Tomato Farm is a working greenhouse and a restaurant which uses the area’s geothermal energy to grow tomatoes and vegetables all year round. It is also a horse-breeding farm, and you will have a chance to say ‘hi’ to these friendly creatures before or after your meal. Lunch amongst the growing tomato plants is included, and we highly recommend the tomato soup and cheesy olive bread.

After lunch, your guide will take you to the first of the trio of attractions which make up the Golden Circle route: Gullfoss Waterfall. This powerful cascade is fed by Iceland’s second-largest glacier, Langjökull, and falls down 32 metres into a deep canyon created by the movement of the tectonic plates.

From there, you’ll make your way to the Geysir Geothermal Area where you can see bubbling mud pools, steaming vents, and the erupting geyser, Strokkur. Make sure to keep your camera ready to capture Strokkur erupting to heights of 15-20 metres (50-65 ft). Don’t worry if you miss it though; the hot spring erupts every 5-10 minutes.

Your last stop before returning to Reykjavík is at the national park of Þingvellir. It is here where Viking settlers of Iceland would gather to lay the laws of the land over a thousand years ago, creating in the process the oldest surviving parliament in the world, Alþingi. The park is also geographically interesting as it is located on the boundary of the N-American nor the Eurasian tectonic plates. The movement of the plates creates the region’s unusual landscape of lava fields and canyons.

Unwind at the Secret Lagoon, learn about geothermal energy, see Icelandic horses, and visit the Golden Circle on this immersive small-group tour. Book now to secure your spot on this popular day tour.
