Get the ultimate Icelandic experience on this exciting day tour! Travel around the famous Golden Circle area in a small group and see powerful waterfalls, Viking battlegrounds, erupting geysers, and a stunning crater lake. This unique journey is crafted for travelers who seek to immerse themselves in Icelandic nature and culture, offering a perfect blend of iconic sites and local experiences.
The tour starts in the morning when a professional guide picks you up and whisks you to the national park of Þingvellir. It is here where Viking settlers of Iceland would gather to lay the laws of the land over a thousand years ago. The park is also geographically fascinating as it is located on the boundary of the N-American and the Eurasian tectonic plates. The movement of the plates creates the region’s unusual landscape of lava fields and canyons.
From there, you’ll stop at Efstidalur Dairy Farm, famed for its homemade ice cream. Here, you can learn about life on a traditional dairy farm, meet some friendly animals, and get great views of the volcano Hekla. You’ll then head to Gullfoss Waterfall. This powerful cascade is fed by Iceland’s second-largest glacier, Langjökull, and falls 32 meters into a deep canyon created by the movement of the tectonic plates.
From Gullfoss, you’ll travel to the Geysir Geothermal Area, where bubbling mud pools, steaming vents, and the famous Strokkur geyser await. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture Strokkur’s eruptions; it can shoot water as high as 15-20 meters.
At lunchtime, you’ll visit Friðheimar Tomato Farm, a working greenhouse and restaurant that uses geothermal energy to grow tomatoes and vegetables year-round. Note that lunch is not included. But we highly recommend the tomato soup and cheesy olive bread.
Your final stop before returning to Reykjavík is Kerið Crater Lake. Here, you’ll stand on the rim of the vibrant crater, surrounded by striking red volcanic rock and aquamarine waters. This geological wonder is over 3,000 years old and offers fantastic opportunities for a scenic walk around the rim or down to the water’s edge.
Explore the geological wonder of Kerið Crater, learn about farm life and geothermal energy, and experience the famous Golden Circle on this immersive small-group tour. Book now to secure your spot on this popular adventure!
